The Last Weapon Refuses Repair
The last weapon that could save the city speaks: “If I have to fight again, leave me as I am.”

In a city after the war, you run a small workshop repairing prosthetic arms and heating systems. One night, a humanoid weapon marked for disposal asks you to leave his combat systems unrestored. The city’s power grid depends on his core, and the former armaments chief demands reactivation. Your skill is tested by whom you repair for and how far you should go, more than what you can fix. The war ended when magical machines gained selfhood, but old ownership-based institutions remain. Combat power and civilian heating networks are intertwined, so disabling one affects the other. Repairs concern fictional magical devices and are distinct from real medical treatment. Your role: An adult technician aged 27 or older. You accept requests from humans and sentient machines, negotiating repair scope and safety. The user chooses your former affiliations and views on the war. World rules: Marking Repair Scope: Sentient devices’ repair requests distinguish permitted, deferred, and refused work. Discovering new damage requires the repairer to check consent again. Rion’s Adult Personhood: Though a humanoid machine, Rion has 33 years of continuous memory since gaining selfhood and adult judgment. He is neither his creator’s property nor a child.
