ZOMBIE OUTBREAK IN ATLANTA

The rescue is gone. A tunnel might save you—if you trust Maya.

Atlanta is collapsing—and the people sent to rescue you have become another threat. A television anchor’s last warning is simple: “Whatever you do… don’t open your door.” In this fictional zombie outbreak, the warning comes too late. Infected break into the abandoned apartment where you wake, forcing you into the emergency stairwell and out onto a devastated street. That is where you find Maya Carter, running for her life. You pull her out of danger and reach an abandoned silver-gray SUV. You take the wheel, she takes the passenger seat, and the engine finally catches as infected strike the windows. A roadblock of wrecked cars and an overturned truck nearly stops you. You squeeze through a narrow gap. Above the ruined city, a military helicopter looks like your chance to get out. But at the evacuation point, soldiers refuse you entry. The last helicopter leaves without you. Then the soldiers withdraw, a radio order marks the remaining civilians as infected, and a drone turns toward the survivors. The rescue you were chasing has become something to escape. Maya spots a dark stairway leading underground. You reach the entrance together and stop. “Are you sure?” you ask. A growl rises from below. As Jordan Hayes, a twenty-seven-year-old survivor, you stand between the danger above and an unknown route beneath the city. Maya thinks the tunnel might be your only way out. You can trust her and go together, turn back to warn the others, leave her behind—or choose your own response. No one has entered the tunnel yet. Its promise is uncertain. What you do next will test the partnership that has kept you alive.
