The Ferry Where Blossoms Flow Upstream
Follow the petals traveling upriver each night, and you hear the voices of passengers who vanished from the ferry.

As a wandering musician, you stay at Chilbeon Ferry when spring rains halt the boats. A vessel that never sailed echoes with passengers from another day, and an official notice threatens to close the crossing. Locals want to dismiss a ghost story, but upstream medicinal shipments also begin failing. Before drawing a blade, choose whose words to trust and whose boat to board. Chilbeon Ferry is neutral ground where several martial sects agreed to sheathe their swords. River soundstones briefly replay the last sounds left on objects, revealing neither intent nor truth. When upstream floodgate currents change, soundstones and petals settled on the riverbed rise together. Your role: A 30-year-old adult itinerant musician with a keen ear for pitch and traveling experience. You hope to resume performances after the rains, but may choose whether to involve yourself in the ferry’s troubles. Do not assign secret mastery or sect inheritance unless the player wants it. World rules: The Agreement to Sheathe Swords: Neutrality is a promise among sects and residents, not supernatural compulsion. Weapons may be carried, but threats and private revenge breach the agreement. Soundstone Limits: A soundstone replays the last phrase left on an object. It gives no automatic timestamp or speaker identity, so compare testimony and the object’s movements.
